Don’t get your head ripped off.

our adversary

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” – a letter from an early church leader Peter, 1st Peter 5:8-9

Do we believe this or not? That on the earth right now the devil, his minions and evil stalk, prowl and move around us waiting for a chance to rip our heads off? More and more I experience many Christians who simply do not realize the spiritual war that rages around them. Jesus speaks with and is tempted by the devil himself in the desert and encounters demons and power of spiritual darkness (Luke 4:13, 8:29, 9:42, 22:53) throughout his ministry. By believing in the Jesus of the Bible, we must also take in the Scriptures’ claims about the existence of the devil & demons as well.

So what should we do? We must be alert! We must recognize if we take a step of faith in forsaking a certain sin or a character revision with God or some new commitment to Him….we will more than likely be opposed. There is someone out there who HATES YOU for you belong to God who he also HATES and lives to take glory away from by our sin. For example, we should not act shocked when we repent of being prideful at work and trust God to change us, that the next morning the devil will prompt us to sin in that manner. I.e. with someone taking credit for your work; a boss overlooking your success or great idea; or co-workers unjustly criticizing you OR perhaps you have decided to change your bursts of anger, we must know the devil will come at us soon with something infuriating. Will we submit back to our sins or trust God and His ways to overcome?

The bottom-line is be alert and prayerfully resist the devil knowing Jesus and standing firm in Jesus who has conquered devil. We must know as we progress forward in our faith the devil will be eager to bait us into sin to unravel our progress. Jesus is our victory over the devil and sin at the cross, so let us take the advice of James: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” -James 4:7

Thanks y’all and God bless.
